WYOMING
"God
Stories"
April
5, 2010 - John Thomason
First
Southern Baptist Church , Douglas : The
church passed out 2,l00 "Find It Here' brochures and
had a record attendance on Easter Sunday morning with 68 in
their service. They had 16 first time visitors. When John
expressed his appreciation to one first time guest for their
presence that day, she replied, "you're the only church
in town that's invited us!"
April
5, 2010 - Abe Ogea
Emmanuel
Baptist Church , Rock Springs : The
church experienced 8 salvation decisions and 12 rededications
during their Easter Sunday Services. They also had many "lost"
husbands in their services. The Western Wyoming Community
College auditorium of Rock Springs was rented for the morning
Easter Services with a special musical program and Evangelist
Sonny Holland leading the service.
April
5, 2010 - Barry Crandall
First
So Baptist Church , Big Piney: Reported
two salvations and five rededications.
April
6, 2010 - Bob Logan
Tongue
River Baptist Church , Ranchester: Easter
Sunday morning the church enjoyed 9 guests. They are hopeful
for further results in the future.
April
6, 2010 - John Herrington
Risen
Son Southern Baptist Church , Thermopolis:
The church prayer walked Thermopolis for a month and hung
brochures on every door in the community. On Easter they prepared
by adding 50 extra seats in the auditorium and nearly filled
every seat. They were blessed with 240 in attendance in their
Easter Service.
April
6, 2010 - Guille Seigler
First
Southern Baptist Church , Moorcroft: They
had one first time guest and a rededication during their Easter
Sunday Service.
April
6, 2010 - Darrell Schoppa
Wind
River Baptist Church , Pinedale: They
had one first time guest as a result of leaving some information
at a hotel desk. He was already a Christian but was looking
for somewhere to attend services. They distributed 375 door
knockers. They had 38 for Sonrise service, and 50 for their
regular worship service. Some who had not been seen for awhile
were there.
April
6, 2010 - Buddy Hanson
Mountain
View Baptist Church , Mills: They
went to 2 services because it was so full last year. 163 attended.
One young person prayed to receive Christ. At least one family
came as a result of the door knockers. Many others who were
personally invited also attended. Mountain View tries to do
some kind of invitation to all area residents for Easter and
Christmas every year, so this campaign fit right into what
they were already doing.
April
6, 2010 - Quin Williams
Boyd
Ave. Baptist Church , Casper : Beginning
with Palm Sunday, the day after the door knockers were distributed,
they had 20-25 visitors. Then at the Good Friday service,
they had a handful of visitors. For the 2 services on Sunday
morning, 295 were present. One man specifically said he was
there because of the info left on his door. Quin guesses that
they had in excess of 50 guests. They also received numerous
calls from people asking for more information about the church.
April
7, 2010 - Randy Barnett
Bar
Nunn Baptist Church , Bar Nunn: Around
70 people attended the Easter service. Many brought family
members who do not regularly attend. One of those couples
asked for some counseling help. 1 individual came in response
to the handouts.
April
7, 2010 - George Harrivel
First
Southern Baptist Church , Casper : 140
people attended the Easter service, with 15 registered guests
and maybe 5 more who did not register. These indicated they
came because of an internet search or because of friends'
invitations. None attended specifically because of the flyers.
3 families marked an interest in joining the congregation.
4 returning National Guard servicemen were present.
April
7, 2010 - Gary Hans
Sunrise
Baptist Church : 104
participated in Sunday's service, including 30-40 who don't
attend on a regular basis. About 10 were first time visitors.
There wasn't any specific feedback on the flyers, but they
created a bonding experience, and also motivated the members
to invite others.
April
7, 2010 - Brian & Becky Kimzey
The
Rock: They had an afternoon
service at 4:00 pm, as Brian preached at Agape in the morning.
Attendance was just family. They had Bible study with 4 kids
after the service and used the Resurrection Eggs illustration.
Agape Baptist Church :
60 or more were present for the morning service with
just a few visitors.
April
7, 2010 - Dave & Penny Allen
Cambria
Community Church : 40-50
people were at the Easter service, with 2 visiting families
in attendance. They put a map of the Newcastle area on the
wall in the back, and marked off sections as people distributed
flyers, prayer walked or drove. The campaign developed more
awareness of those lost around them and also provided fellowship
and drawing together of those who participated. An opportunity
to be of help to a neighbor with medical problems came up.
They even asked for prayer. God is working...
April
7, 2010 - Ray Galloway
North
Cheyenne Baptist Church , Cheyenne :
65 people were at the Sunrise service-the most ever! Even
with some the regulars out of town, their sanctuary was completely
full at the later service, with well over 130 people. Flyers
were delivered to over 300 homes. A 17 year old young man
came to receive Christ and will be baptized next Sunday. His
friend brought him to his first ever sunrise service. He used
to mock the Bible and was recently released from the boys'
school in Worland. He is excited and is feeling that God has
something special in mind for him. God is at work and Ray
feels privileged to be a part of what is happening. They plan
to leave the banners up and look forward to more harvesting.
April
7, 2010 - Craig Cagle
Memorial
Baptist Church
, Wheatland:
Sunday was wonderful,
the music and worship was great. In spite of snow and
poor weather, more than 170 attended and somewhere around
100 stayed and ate BBQ and a fantastic assortment of foods. We
celebrated a Baptism, one guest (an adult man) made a Profession
of Faith after the service, and other decisions were made,
too. We had a large number of guests, not sure how many
came because of the invitations we passed out (1,000) or free
BBQ, etc. We had 15 children in the nursery. It
was a day of joyful celebration.
April
7, 2010 - Doug Rumsey
Antelope
Valley Baptist Church , Gillette:
Our Easter services went great! We had 174 in attendance and
we have two decisions for Christ. I am not able to tell you
how effective the flyers where simply because we did not ask
how our guests came to know about the services. We truly had
a great service. We did have about 20-30 visitors on Sunday.
April
7, 2010 - Marty Rostad
Clearmont
Baptist Church
, Clearmont :
We had a wonderful Easter week
in Clearmont! Wednesday
evening they served a barbeque ham dinner with potatoes,
salad, & pie to
the community. Following dinner the high school honor
choir presented a Cantata in
the church. We served over 100 that evening!
Sunday
morning we had 117 in attendance with twin girls making a
decision to follow Christ
in baptism. Several first time visitors, but all local
residents!
April
7, 2010 - John Scudder
Warm
Valley Baptist
Church , Pavillion: We
had close to 16 visitors total directly connected to
A-cross Wyoming in our 2 services.
Prayer
Walk: 20
Door
to Door distribution: 31
300
door hangers distributed
I
never saw a commercial nor did anyone in our church
Services
were great, but no public decisions.
Total
attendance in the 2 morning services: 54 individuals
April
8, 2010 - Michael McKnight
First
Southern Baptist Church , Lovell: They
had 21 people at the service, including 3 visitors, a young
woman and her son who had just moved into town, and another
young person. There were 3 or 4 that they hadn't seen for
awhile, and several of their regular members were out of town.
They distributed 1300-1400 flyers. An 82-year-old did ¾'s
of the distributing, both in Lovell and in Byron. Some folks
came out and thanked him for the information as he placed
them on the doors. Several members commented on seeing the
commercials.
April
8, 2010 - Mark Yeatman
United
Baptist Church , Riverton :
119 attended Easter service. Visitors were mostly family of
members. They had a good turnout for Sunrise service too.
April
8, 2010 - Clay Alexander
Big
Horn Baptist Church , Buffalo :
188 were at Sunday service with about 30 visitors. Some of
these were family of members. There were 2 professions of
faith. There was one negative response to the flyers - in
the form of a letter. He basically did not believe salvation
could come through a prayer.
April
12, 2010 - Dave Stillie
First
Southern Baptist Church , Rawlins: We
did the ACROSS stuff--prayer walk and flyer handout--but due
to my "absentee" schedule I wasn't a part of it.
We had 90 + 50 in our services with 3 first-time visitors;
none responding to the flyers.
April
12, 2010 - David Largent
Kaycee
Baptist Church
, Kaycee: Kaycee
church did not have any new visitors. However they had
a nice size crowd with family and friends of their members.
They are extremely excited with what God is doing
in their church.
I
spoke with Pastor Danny Davis from the Grace Mission
Church in Kaycee. They are probably community or independent
Baptist. Their church has been in Kaycee a long time.
He said they did not have any first time visitors however
their 2 services had a total of about 85 people.
He was really pleased to have been a part of Across Wyoming
and thought the cooperation between the 2 churches was wonderful.
In Kaycee that is a huge mile stone to work together in God's Kingdom.
April
12, 2010 - Mark & Cathy Largent
Faith
Community Church
, Gillette :
Faith had a wonderful Easter
Sunday. We had our largest Easter ever and maxed out
our service. I believe we had 2 families that were there
from receiving the door hangers. We felt like at the
very least the door hangers reminded a lot of our members
to attend church.
As
we went around our community and passed out the door hangers
people were very pleasant and wanted to visit. Many
are going through hardships due to our economic times.
It was good to hear what their needs were.
Anita
(women in charge of Across Wyoming for us) did a wonderful
job. God had so burdened her heart for the lost she
was waking up at night in tears. She would wake
and pray for the invitation to be received.
April
12, 2010 - Harold & Barbara Lunsford
Wamsutter
Baptist Church
: We
normally have between 25-30 on Sunday, God blessed us with
56. Howard Daniel preached, we had great music, even had a
choir and special music. It was a very moving service.
There was a lot of tears, but no one came forward. We put
out over 275 flyers and had about 15 visitors. We thought
we would have had more, but are thankful for the 56.
April
12, 2010 - College
Heights Baptist Church : 162
attended Sonrise service, with breakfast afterwards. The morning
worship service was at the Natrona County High school auditorium
with 390 people. (Palm Sunday was our highest ever attendance
up until Easter with 388. Some of our flyers were distributed
early by a mission team from Oklahoma and the rest on a Sunday
afternoon, so we think they may have had an influence on increased
participation in the couple weeks before Easter). Many first
time visitors and many who haven't been there for awhile came,
along with family members. There were 2 decisions.
April
15, 2010 - Robert Johnston
Superior
Baptist Church , Superior : The
door hanger bags with brochures were distributed to every
home in Superior . While response was not great on Easter--seeds
have been planted and a future harvest is still hoped for.
April
15, 2010 - Maury Young
River
of Life Baptist
Church , Cokeville:
The church enjoyed a
high attendance of 33 on Easter Sunday morning with 2 making
professions of faith.
April
15, 2010 - Elwood Stewart
New
Hope Baptist
Church , Rock Springs :
Easter Sunday saw 18 new prospects and 1 profession of faith.
April
15, 2010 - Ed Bryan
Fellowship
Baptist Church
, La Barge: Standing
room only on Easter Sunday. Praise God for a FULL house, with
18 new guests as a part of the service.
April
15, 2010 - Shawn Moody
Bridger
Valley Baptist Church , Lyman: The
church celebrated Easter with 2 baby dedications followed
by 2 baptisms. The church reports 3 professions of faith at
the conclusion of Easter worship and anticipates future decisions
as a result of their efforts in "Find It Here"/
A-CROSS WYOMING .
April
15, 2010 - Gary Williams
Westside
Baptist Church , Gillette: We
had a combined attendance on Easter Sunday of 322 (8:00 and
10:45 service). We did not plan very well as far as
seeing who had received the A-Cross Wyoming literature, so
we don't know for sure. I did visit a lady yesterday
that attended 4/11 that had received the info. Also
we had a lady that is 92 years of age attend Easter Sunday
and the Sunday prior. The Tuesday after Easter she came
in to visit with me and she trusted Christ. This Sunday
18th we are going to celebrate as we baptize this 'young lady'.
Together for His Glory!
April
21, 2010 - Scott & Tami Thompson
Immanuel Southern Baptist
Church , Gillette: We
had a dismal turnout for the Good Friday service
but the church was filled on Easter. We got all of our
Across WY door hangers hung---even had a guy wanting to talk.
My fellow "hangers" stood in the street and watched.
Then the "lady of the house" came out all angry and
told me in no uncertain terms," LEAVE!" So,
I did---oh my. |
