Colorado/Wyoming Disaster Relief DEPLOYMENT UPDATE…

URGENT NEED FOR 3RD Disaster Relief  Team to deploy this Sunday, September 24th.

Dear Volunteers, 

 Volunteers are getting scarce in TX as many are now in Florida.  Our third CBDR & WYDR volunteer team will be deploying this Sunday, September 24.  We desperately need your help as we continue to assist those that were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

We have been preparing meals for 2K people per day and need enough volunteers so we can make two shifts in this process: one for morning and one for afternoon. You do not have to be a cook as we are in need of serving line personnel, prep team and several other areas in order to get the food out for American Red Cross to deliver.

Other areas of needs for these next 2 weeks are:

  1.  Mass Feeding
  2. Shower Laundry  Volunteers
  3. Logistics in all areas
  4. Incident Command assistance
  5. Mud Out Teams

This is an urgent need, so please respond to disasterrelief@cbgc.org as soon as possible with you availability! We would like for you to commit for 2 weeks but will work with you if you can only do 1 week.

Deployment Meeting Location:

Colorado Baptist Convention Office  /   7393 South Alton Way   /  Centennial, CO

Meeting Time:  8:00 a.m.

Notes:

  • Plan on an overnight stay at a hotel both ways.
  • You are welcome  to drive you own vehicle if needed

Note:  If you haven’t already done so, please go to our CBDR website at www.coloradodr.org and download & complete the full registration forms and get them to Rhonda Nanney at Rnanney@cbgc.org before deploying. You will also need to show your proof of health insurance when you arrive on site at the DR Incident Command.

As of September 18, 2017

CO/WY Disaster Relief teams are now in their 3rd week of helping provide relief to those who have lost everything in the TX/Florida areas devastated by the flooding of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Our CO/WY DR team currently has 36 volunteers and is serving over 2,000 meals each day.  This is only a part of the total 882,000 meals that have been served to-date throughout the TX/LA affected areas by the many teams serving there.

There is such a huge need for volunteers for many months to come as home after home, from the smallest of towns to the largest of cities, is seeing all of its possessions being put out on the sidewalk ready to be hauled to the dumps.  Volunteers are returning each evening exhausted but tearful as they watch the miracles that God is doing to bring hope and healing to those they serve each day.

Watch for Updates as a shuttle will deploy from Colorado with new teams every other week.  Dates, times, and locations will be listed here on our Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention website.  Contact the state office if you can deploy for one or more weeks.

                            Please continue to pray!!  The need is BIG!!

We have a bus that will be heading to DAYTON, TEXAS this Wednesday morning:

                Date: Wednesday, September 13  (that is in two days)

                Time: 9:00 a.m.

                Meeting Location: Colorado Baptist General Convention Office, located at 7393 S. Alton Way, Centennial, CO 

CBDR is in desperate need of volunteers!  We are needing volunteers for Feeding and Mud Out. “Hands On” Training in TX will be provided for those that have not yet completed the training.

There are hundreds of homes needing mud out and we are feeding over 1,500 meals in the two areas that we are working in. We need more man and women POWER!

 We desperately need your help!  Please let me, Dennis Belz, know of your availability: dbelz@cbgc.org  We would like everyone to consider doing a 2 week deployment if possible. (we are willing to work with you if you only do  one week).

Steps to deploy:

  1.   Contact Dennis Belz at dbelz@cbgc.org  with your available date (if other than this Wednesday) and the length of time you can stay.  Remember that you may have a long drive to CO, so please consider this when giving your dates.
  2.  Forward your email to David Schroeder or Beth Williams at the WSBC office so we can help with this process and pray for you as you are deployed.   schroeder@wyomingsbc.org  or bwilliams@wyomingsbc.org  
  3. Download your WYDR Full Registration Packet 2017 and fill it out.  You will find this at the bottom of the CO DR website:  coloradodr.org   If you have NOT been DR trained, fill out all 5 pages and email it along with a copy of your proof of health insurance to bwilliams@wyomingsbc.org.  If you have been DR credentialed, fill out only page 2 (2017 Personal & Medical Information) and email it along with a copy of your health insurance card to bwilliams@wyomingsbc.org.
  4. Once Beth Williams at the WSBC office has forwarded your paperwork and background check to CO, Dennis Belz will email you with dates and times of departure (if later than this Wednesday).
  5. Again, please keep WY in your communications regarding the time and duration of your deployment.

Dear volunteers,

Our first team to Houston will deploy this Sunday morning. Through the week, I will be setting up the details for the other teams deployments with CBDR, WY and the other states that want to assist us with volunteers(Alaska, KS/NE and California).  This is going to be a major deployment and this one will be different as we will be the only team working out of this church. We will  be setting up an IC on Tuesday at the church.  I look forward to serving with this first group and then the others as we continue our efforts.

Here are the details for our deployment:

Date: Sunday, September 3rd

Location: Colorado Baptists Convention Office

7393 South Alton Way

Centennial, CO 80112

Time: 8:00 a.m.

We will arrive at our location on Monday evening around 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday we will begin setting up all feeding units. Wednesday will begin feeding 3 meals a day for 1K people.

Note: we will be staying in a hotel on Sunday evening. (we will try to make this cost for you as low as possible).  You are responsible for all food etc. while traveling. Once on site you will have meals provided, shower laundry unit and room to sleep.  Please bring your own bedding. The church is providing towels and washcloths for us.
