Thirty Fifth Annual Meeting of Wyoming Southern Baptists to Focus on “Set the Tone”
By Lynn Nikkel
As Wyoming Southern Baptists meet for their thirty-fifth Annual Meeting they will be guided by these thoughts from James 1:4, “And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing”. Endurance must “set the tone” for our ministry together here in Wyoming.
Over the last several years Wyoming Southern Baptist’s have had to deal with several influences from many decisions and situations beyond our own control that have impacted the way we do ministry, and the resources at our disposal for our cooperative ministry efforts. But we have endured. It has required our own decisions and changes to structure and prioritizing our ministry concepts, but we are still together doing the Kingdom work here, and beyond.
This upcoming Annual Meeting of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Mission Network will mark another year of that resolute commitment to endurance. And we will gather with great confidence in the future of our work. We will meet at the facilities of Mountain View Baptist Church, 4250 Poison Spider Road in Mills.
President John Constantine, along with vice-presidents John Larramendy and Dean Whitaker, are developing a program of reports of God’s work here, the needed business that guides our work, along with great worship and fellowship of God’s people together seeking the Lord – to praise him, thank him, and commit ourselves to continue to follow him. A full schedule of the planned meeting will be posted soon on our WSBMN website, www.wyomingsbc.org.
The meetings of the Network will be preceded by the Pastors Conference, meeting at Mountain View; and the Women’s Conference meeting at Evansville Baptist Church. Both of these meetings will be on Thursday, November 1st, and will begin at 9:00am and conclude at Noon. Registration for the WSBMN Annual Meeting will open at 1:00pm at Mountain View, and the first session begins at 2:00pm. Letters have gone out to all of our Network churches regarding their election of messengers for the meetings.
Messengers will be hearing from local churches about what God is doing in and through their ministries, as well as conducting business that is essential to our cooperative work. The annual sermon at this year’s meeting is to be delivered Thursday afternoon by Nathaniel Purvis, pastor of New Hope Baptist in Rock Springs. Worship through music will be led by the praise team from Mountain View Baptist. John Constantine, pastor of Story Community Church and president of the WSBMN, will bring the president’s message in Thursday evening’s session.
Other aspects of the meeting are still in the planning stage and being finalized. A full schedule will be sent to our churches as soon as it is available. And we will be posting that and other information on our website as well. We are hoping and praying for as many as possible of our churches being represented by a full slate of messengers as we meet for what will be a historic event in the life of our Network.
